Midland Park Youth Sport Association Code of Conduct

 

Interscholastic and youth sports programs play an important role in promoting the physical, social and

emotional development of children. It is therefore essential for parents, coaches and officials to

encourage youth athletes to embrace the values of good sportsmanship. Moreover, adults involved in

youth sports events should be models of good sportsmanship and should lead by example by

demonstrating fairness, respect and self control towards coaches, volunteers, players, spectators and

each other.

 

The Recreation Department expects all of its Youth Sports Association coaches, volunteers, players, and

spectators to represent their association and community in good faith by following and maintaining

proper behavior and etiquette in all phases of our recreation and travel sports.

 

I therefore pledge to be responsible for my words and actions while attending, coaching, officiating or

participating in a youth sports event and shall conform my behavior to the following code of conduct:

 

1. I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent,                                      

player, participant, official or any other attendee.

2. I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any

coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

3. I will not engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well being of any coach,

parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

4. I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in any behavior which would endanger

the health, safety or well being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other

attendee.

5. I will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to use drugs or alcohol at a youth sports

event and will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to attend, coach, officiate or

participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

6. I will not engage in the use of profanity.

7. I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in the use of profanity.

8. I will treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect

regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.

9. I will encourage my child to treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other

attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or

ability.

10. I will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player,

participant, official or any other attendee.

11. I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse

aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

12. I will not initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other

attendee.

13. I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach,

parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 MIDLAND PARK RECREATION CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT AND PARENTAL WAIVER

 

I hereby agree that if I fail to conform to the Code of Conduct and rules of competition, while attending, coaching,

officiating or participating in a youth sports event I will be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited

to the following in any order or combination:

 

1. Written warning issued. Any coach, volunteer or parent with 1 or more warnings on file with the

Recreation Department may be subject to immediate or a suspended forfeiture of any coaching

position, Sport Association Board Member seat and the ability to seek a Sport Association Board

member seat for a minimum of a 365 day period from the last warning received by any of the

MPYS Associations or the Board of Recreation.

2. Suspension or immediate ejection from a youth sports event. Any coach, volunteer, or parent

ejected from a youth sport event will automatically be subject to suspension from their next scheduled game. A

2nd ejection within a 365 day period from 1st ejection will result in an immediate forfeiture of any coaching

position, sport association board seat, and the ability to seek a sport association seat, for at least a period of

one year thereafter. * Any ejection made by an umpire or referee should immediately be reported to the

respective Youth Sport Association in order that the appropriate disciplinary steps be taken.

3. Suspension from multiple youth sports events.

4. Multiple season suspension issued or up to a lifetime ban.

 

 

As a Board Member, Coach or Manager, I hereby realize that I will not be permitted to coach a Midland Park recreation

and/or travel event without signing below and will forfeit my position by failing to sign.

 PARENTAL WAIVER AND CONCENT FORM

 

As the parent or legal guardian of the child named below, I hereby give my full consent and approval for my child to

participate as a team member in the sport designated below. I understand that there are certain risks of injury inherent in

the practice and play of this sport, as well as in traveling and other related activities incidental to my child’s participation

and I am willing to assume these risks on behalf of my child. I hereby certify that my child is fully capable of participating

in the designated sport and that my child is healthy and has no physical or mental health disabilities or infirmities that

would restrict full participation in these activities, except as listed below. In addition to giving my full consent for my

child’s participation, I do hereby waive, release and hold harmless the Borough of Midland Park, the organization named

below, its officers, coaches, sponsors, supervisors and representatives for any injury that may be suffered by my child in

the normal course of participation in the designated sport and the activities incidental thereto, whether the result of

negligence or any other cause.
