RECREATION RULES

 


 


 
JUNIOR RECREATION RULES 2010

                                                   
1. Bases will be 60” apart.
2. Eight player minimum to play a game.  No penalty if 9th position is vacant.
3. 24 hour notice is needed to cancel a game and must be rescheduled at the earliest possible date.
4. Short fielder is to start play behind a 10" arc behind 2nd base.
5. No infield fly rule.
6. Games will be six innings in length.
7. Player must play a minimum of three innings.
8. No inning may start after 8:00 Pm during April and May, 8:15 PM during June

9. No Jewelry, large ornamental rings, loose or hanging earrings may be worn during a game

Pitching Rules

1. The rubber will be 38" from home plate.
2. The pitcher must pitch from a pitching rubber if one is available and properly placed.
3. The pitcher must release the ball with one foot on the rubber.  Windmill is allowed if a girl chooses.
4. A pitcher may only pitch 2 innings in any game which does not go extra innings.  Any pitcher may re-enter the game once. One pitch constitutes an inning.  Extra innings count as a new games. 
5. Managers or coaches will be permitted 2 trips to the mound in an inning. If a 3rd trip is made, the pitcher must be replaced.  Trips due to injury don't count.
Batting Rules

1. Bunting is permitted and encouraged to be instructed.
2. Full roster batting is adhered to.
3. The batter may not run if the catcher drops the 3rd strike.
4. Throwing the bat is prohibited.  Umpires will give both teams a warning after the first incident.  Subsequent incidents will results in the batter being called out and all runners will be returned to their previous bases.
5. Batters will be encouraged to drop the bat after receiving a walk.
6. A walk will occur when a batter receives 4 balls

7. Helmets must be worn by all batters and base runners.  Helmets may not be removed until batter or base runner is back in the dugout or has left the playing field.

Base Running Rules

1. Stealing is permitted.  There is no stealing home plate. Each team is allowed to steal one base per inning.  The ball is considered live when it leaves the pitcher’s hand.
2. Runners may leave the base when the ball has left the pitchers hand. There will be one warning before the runner will be called out for leaving too soon.
3. If the catcher attempts to throw out a runner after a pitch, the runner is forced to return to there original base (unless a steal is available). She does not have to be tagged out it’s a force out.
4. The ball is in play when the catcher throws to any base attempting to force a runner.
5. The ball is not in play when the catcher throws it back to the pitcher.
6. The ball is dead; play is over when a player has control of the ball in the circle or at the pitchers mound.  Runners must either proceed to next base or retreat to the previous to the previous base.  Runners may not dance in the base path and must move directly to the base.  Pitchers may attempt to get a runner out moving to the next base, the ball will then be in play and will not be dead until its return to the pitchers circle.  The umpire will have the final judgment to call a stoppage of play.

7. Sliding is permitted and encouraged.  Deliberately running into or knocking down a fielder will result in the base runner being called out.
8. Fielders will be called for interference if the block a base or base path.
9. Speed-Up rule with 2 outs, a pitch runner is required for the catcher. Runner to be used must be the last recorded out.
