RECREATION RULES

 


 


 
SENIOR RECREATION RULES 2010

1. High School rules published in the National federation Publication shall rule unless otherwise mentioned below.
2. Bases will be 60" apart.
3. Eight player minimum to play a game. 
4. Short fielder is to start play behind a 10" arc behind 2nd base.
5. No Jewelry, large ornamental rings, loose or hanging earrings may be worn during a game
6. Games will be 7 innings in length.  All games are official after 5 complete innings.
 
Pitching Rules

1. The rubber will be 40" from home plate.
2. No pitcher may pitch more than 4 innings per game.  Starting pitcher may re-enter the game once.  No other pitchers may re-enter the game, in the event of extra innings, it will be treated as a new game and all pitchers will be eligible to pitch 4 innings. No new inning will start after 2 hours of play, unless the score is tied, then the game will continue at the discretion of the umpire unless he stops play due to darkness or any other reason. 
 

Batting Rules

1. Full roster batting is adhered to for all players on either team.
2. Helmets must be worn by all batters and base runners.  Helmets may not be removed until batter or base runner is back in the dugout or has left the playing field.


Base Running Rules

1. Runners may leave the base when the ball has left the pitchers hand.
2. Runners must slide at home plate. If there is a play at the plate, it is the base runner's responsibility to avoid a collision.
3. Fielders will be called for interference if the block a base or base path.
4. Speed-Up rule with 2 outs, a pitch runner is required for the catcher. Runner to be used must be the last recorded out.
5. Stealing is permitted, 2 bases per inning.  Any stolen bases after 2 in an inning by a team, the base runner will be declared automatically out, if called prior to the next pitch in the game.  The ball is live at all times.  Play stops when the ball is in possession of the pitcher on the pitcher's mound.
